Cafeteria

I was inspired when I noticed, last week in the Irondale cafeteria, a group of popular student council upperclassmen girls sitting with and talking with two special-need freshman boys.

Positivity

I had to write an essay for ELA, with certain criteria, based on one of my personal beliefs. Here's what I came up with. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RwlI6xOxSfJBS43LKufsnSe-w1xr_cB_bY2Y6uuMK_4/edit?usp=sharing

Vikings

It was super cool when the Vikings won against the Saints, but one of the coolest parts was hearing the quotes afterwards. Stefon Diggs, who caught the winning touchdown pass, said, "Like I said, I give it all to God. Things like this don't just happen." Quarterback Case Keenum said that the astonishing win was the third best thing that ever happened to him; first was giving his life to Jesus and second was marrying his wife. I love that after an emotional win, there's so many other things that could be going through their heads and they're thinking about God and they're willing to tell the world that.

Surprise

So, I'm finding myself a little nervous before the hip replacement surgery and I'm putting worry and fear under my feet. I go to the grocery store with $66.05 to pay and find my credit card is rejected. Twice! So I get out a check and the address doesn't match my driver's license because I'm too cheap to not use up the old checks. They reject it and say I'm not in their system. Ok then. . .  I apologize and say I have no other way to pay and I'm sorry but they'll have to put the groceries back. The lady behind me says, put it on my card. Wow! I offer to write a check to her and she says, "no, just pass it on."  I leave with all my free groceries, thanking and praising God, reassured that not only does He see me, but that there are still incredibly nice people out there.

Darkest Night, Brightest Light

The world can seem pretty dark. This blog is for the little things- or the big things!- that are lights in the night and diamonds in the rough. The posts and comments on this blog are the things you see around you that are the good in the world. Maybe it's something big, like a friend recovering from cancer. Maybe it's something small, like someone on the street picking up your bag when you drop it. As long as it's a diamond in the rough, it belongs on this blog. We can celebrate together and spread the good. In the darkest night, there is always the brightest light.
